Baby

On the side of the road
A life in the mold
Oh, baby. My baby. Sweet baby.
With a knife at your throat
It's time to come home
Oh, baby. My baby. Sweet baby.
Watch me go in for the kill
Life on the edge, what a thrill.
If home is where the heart is my heart's shredded in parts and it's shrouded in darkness.
We're wolves amongst the sheep
Now we're in too deep
If someone could hurt you, it'd almost be worse to abandon, desert you.
If you were to believe. Oh, please just believe.
Oh god, it's such a mess.
The last saved for the best.
Oh, baby. My baby. Sweet baby.
With two rings and a home
and I feel so alone.
This lady is taking my baby.
A wedding and a mire
Pulled out right from the fire
No blessings or daydreams. We're not what we may seem. She's ours for the taking.
Have heart for stormy skies
Your clouds so full of lies
Don't look now; it's raining. Distraught and painstaking. Please don't be so angry.
If you were to believe. Oh, please just believe.

Hey, baby. Let's go to San Francisco
Let's watch the lights fall down on you
And maybe, we'll hear your words of wisdom
We'll speak to the work you taught so true.
Wood creatures in denial. Out-thought sex for survival
Heaven is less than a mile away
We're tricked out southern babies, held by the hand which god have gave me
Mary Ann Scott; Please, call me Katie
Can we take your house for the night
Help ourselves to your life
Where no one else can see us
We've become more than exists
The less fortunate pigs
We fear what we have made.
You made me. Here come the sunset ravens
Every last drop of blood I take from thee
You gave me life in exchange for death and healing
One less god to kneel before and pray
One summer I won't survive, and every other day I felt so alive
Every last word I hung onto was love
I feel worse when I let you down, I never dealt with a demon 'til I met myself
Helter Skelter, won't you be my king?
Her heart, I can feel it fading
Every last wound swept up your baby
Another gallon left to fulfill my painting
Can we take your house for the night
Help ourselves to your life
Where no one else can see us
We've become more than exists
The less fortunate pigs
We fear what we have made.

Desert Song 1

A sheet ghost with no blanket
Dressed up for the ball but lost at the banquet
Ruby red eyes, so dead inside
The kids on the curb are soulless and vacant
The tavern is open, the drinks are expensive
They know you who you are 'cause your name was mentioned
They withhold their smiles and ask you to stay a while
They pour you a drink and hope you befriend them
Who are they, who are you
You're lost and alone
Who sent them, incentive
There's no one on the phone.
Why do I always cry at the skies at night
Why am I always the first to run
In a land with no names or signs, have I lost my mind
I'm staring down a gun

Let your hair down, you're among friends
We shut you out and we'll do it again
Don't you know there's a back door, there's only one place that you can hide tonight
Don't you know you're a master, there's not a piece that you can't find
It's too cold and feels like winter.
We just got to save ourselves, god help us we've got to save ourselves
The clouds are dark up in the sky
Back again, and I'm so bitter
Goodness gracious, I'm alright
Don't you know that you're a messenger
Poor Jackie, she would've wanted it this way
Put your mind into a purse, put your mind into a purse
Goodness gracious, I'm alright
Let your hair down you're among friends
We shut you out and we'll do it again
Again

Everybody has a secret from their families
We're all poster children posing up in front of someone else
Everybody works as hard as they can
Day in and day out they slave away for money from the man
Everyone who has a path to follow, we all fall at the end
Everyone who tries to find their way gets lost and lost and lost
Everybody has a secret, well your mother knows
She's telling everyone she knows and they're all so fucking judgmental
Call the only friends you have, they won't answer the phone
Call your love and let her know you've never felt more alone
Call the only ones you trust and watch them point and laugh
We're built to hold ourselves, we need help and we can't go back
Call the prisoners out, you'd rather be locked away
Call your daughter to the yard and watch her waste the day
We're all mechanical, part fear of god, part animal
You just want someone you can hold but all you've got is someone you don't know

Desert Song 2

We’ve only been ourselves
And we can’t make them change our minds
And if we take away the toys and things that make us stay
Again, we’re falling out of line
Somewhere there’s a desert with a sign
Where dreams and illusions intertwine
Take a breath, and step back, we were made to attack, we were built with our hearts on the frontlines
But we can’t go home, we’re dying inside
They say that home is where the heart is
But what good is that when you’re born heartless
Where’s the knife we used to cut the cake that set the blaze
Hold still if you want to stay alive
Somewhere there’s a desert with a sign
Where dreams and illusions intertwine
Take a breath, and step back, we were made to attack, we were built with our hearts on the frontlines
But we can’t go home, we’re dying inside.
And then she’ll ask me if I’m the creator
I’ll answer back I wrote the scriptures
So long, my friend, 'til we meet again
You’ll learn to sleep with one eye open
Somewhere there’s a desert with a sign
Where dreams and illusions intertwine
Take a breath, and step back, we were made to attack, we were built with our hearts on the frontlines
But we can’t go home, we’re dying inside.

Dirty Water

Let go of me, I’m shaken
The calm before the storm
Neon boy, but not mistaken
Pre-determined by the cloth that he has worn
Beneath the skies of gray lies an island on a lake
There lives a boy from a scene of a movie
Everything she loves is great, and everything he knows is hate
But everything they learn is through me
If they address you as you’re not, then they’re mistaken
And if they lock you up inside of what was vacant
Before they toss you out the door and to the basement
Just let them know you’re not cut out for conversation
Be still, my bleeding heart
A gown fit for a queen
As we perform our art
It takes a lifetime to understand just what we mean
Beneath the skies of gray lies a child’s life in vain
The curtain calls, and they’re drawn loosely
And she knew it was too late ‘cause that boy made a mistake
Our lives are pre-planned out in 2D
If they address you as you’re not, then they’re mistaken
And if they lock you up inside of what was vacant
Before they toss you out the door and to the basement
Just let them know you’re not cut out for conversation

Orchid

I am all that you want me to be
Inside the dirt I watch the swallows as they follow the sky
I am growing into something you need
So you can pick me when you need me and then throw me away
I've washed my mouth out with soap so I can forget your name
Ive got a laundry list of reasons why I won't be the same
Can you come out and play or have you no time for games
I'm just a baby but you've taken me and made me a man
I've watched it in the movies and I've observed the art
I thought it was what people did when they found themselves in love
I used to think that love was something that could be cold and dark
Now you've found me on the roadside with nowhere else to stay
Bring me water, bring me air and bring me what I was taught
Show me everything you have before you see what I've got
Lonely strangers get in trouble only if they are caught
Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I hate me
Cold water with ice is what she brought me that night
Filled the bathtub with poison and tried to drown me twice
Orchid breather, she's nice until she turns to strike
Taking everything you love and sends you home for the night
She's an angel on fire, she's the devil on ice
She picks her poison for the boys and tries to force them to drink
Called late and cried into the phone while I died
Beast of burden always lurking in the shadows to change
Always someone else
Don't need your help
Go home and die
And sleep with the fish in the ocean
It doesn't take much to get to know them
When they bend you so far, you'll be broken
But don't call me then
Hey mom I tried to call you, but you weren't home
And if you hear this please don't tell everyone what I've said
Sometimes you need to fight with the demons you know
Before you can begin to wrestle with the ones in your head
Hey fear, I've missed you, let's go back inside
It's getting colder, I've grown older and I'm starting to feel
When you come to me within my dreams it's hard to deny
Your orchid garden has grown rotten and I'm starting to heal

The River
03:42
|

Slowly I'll drown Before I break
Slowly I'll fall down and slowly I'll drift away
There must be something in the water, I can feel it in my veins.
Slowly I'll drown no matter how long it takes
Slowly I'll crawl out and just give my head a shake
Summer has fallen down in autumns wake
There must be something in the fall air that keeps me from being fake
Slowly I'll crawl out of this hole that I made
And I'm trying my best to be the best you try to be
And I've taken pills and made myself be someone that lies to me
I've never been a sinner but I'll be passed out beside the trees
Or collapse into a river with heavy stones tied to feet
I'll learn my ABCs again and prove to you that I can read
I'll make my mistakes again and again, and maybe this time I'll see
I'm trying my best to be the best that you want from me
But it's getting hard to make a star when we're not shining
